Had the seafood platter with whole belly. I did not get one piece of grit in my clams everything was lightly breaded it was perfect. The seafood was perfect the onion rings were awesome the coleslaw was awesome and the two girls that were working were very nice, very friendly and very much on top of their game. I look forward to my next trip!
Best place for take-out fried seafood. Everything we had was excellent: fried fish, fried clams, onion rings. Even simple things like chicken nuggets and tartar sauce were just excellent. You can dine-in if you want, or eat outside, but don't expect the same ambiance as a fancy sit-down restaurant. But for what we wanted, it was perfect.
Update: MOVED to Rt 11 into Little Miss Sophie's Restaurant/functioning as two options - breakfast or seafood. Always fresh product, ordered from the senior menu, it's just the right proportion. Today was the scallops with cocktail sauce, my favorite. Where my husband is highly allergic to shellfish I have to eat in a place where he can't come in contact with it. So this is a quick and easy stop for when he's not around. It's a quite little place. I feel this place is a hidden gem, true local spot.
The food was hot. The lobster roll filled with fresh tasty lobster that was perfectly cooked. Clam bellies tender and soft. Service was friendly and quick. This is the quintessential New Hampshire stop my father used to reminisce about. Definitely coming back!
Jimmy Jones is seafood perfection. Definitely one of my favorite places for fried seafood. It was nice to go back for a meal and I was pleasantly surprised by the prices, 2 boats, one whole clam and one haddock nugget with 2 20oz drinks was just under 40. I paid 37 for a clam platter at a competitor last week and I swear my boat from Jimmy Jones had more clams and less fries than the platter did. Jimmy Jones for the win!
There is seating inside and out. You order your food, pay for it and they give you a ticket number. When your order is ready they call your number and you pick it up at the counter and either find a table or take it to go. I ordered a small whole clam plate with onion rings. The plate gives you a choice of French fries or Onion rings and also comes with coleslaw. Although the market prices are high, the amount of food is very generous. The clams were crispy on the outside but not overcooked at all. I am not a fan of coleslaw, but theirs was outstanding. The onion rings were pretty good. I have a good appetite, but I could only eat half of my plate. I definitely recommend you try this place. I can't wait to go back to try something else.
Generous portions and really good batter! I usually only eat whole clams but their strips are so good I didn't even mind! The haddock nuggets are perfect!
This place reminds me of when I was kid and driving home from the beach, we would stop for seafood. Since we were in bathing suits, we'd order as takeout and eat in the car. There are a handful of places to get seafood in Rochester. The seafood here is among the best. Fresh and tasty. The service is always good. I get a boat with 1/2 whole clams and 1/2 scallops. And don't forget the onion rings. And they do have seating if you're in the mood. I prefer to take home and watch a good movie.
